Jardín de las Rosas

10 minutes from the hotel (by car with normal traffic).

It is a picturesque space surrounded by buildings dating from the 18th century, which is a very pleasant place to relax, have a nice cup of coffee, take some beautiful pictures, have dinner or start a night of drinks. It is also a meeting place where local artists meet several times a week to mount exhibitions and sell their works. Also, on the last Sunday of each month you can enjoy special events with musical, theatrical and literary proposals.

Its official name is the Luis González Gutiérrez Garden, a name given in honor of the outstanding professor at the Colegio de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, but it is colloquially known as “Jardín de las Rosas”, as it is flanked by the magnificent Conservatory of Roses. Like every typical corner of Mexico, this beautiful place has a legend. In his case, it revolves around the two statues that can be found here: that of the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and that of Don Vasco de Quiroga, the first bishop of Michoacán. It is said that on November 2, during the Night of the Dead, the spirits of both characters return to this site to share experiences and discuss some relevant current events.

For all these reasons, the Garden of the Roses should be on your list of places to visit in Morelia. We invite you to enjoy everything that the beautiful capital of Michoacán has to offer, staying with us. At Best Western Plus Gran Hotel Morelia we will welcome you with open arms to pamper you as you deserve and make your stay in Michoacán an unforgettable experience.
